Plan Ahead
There are some great ways to protect your car from muddy dogs. Using seat or boot covers not only stop your upholstery and carpets from getting dirty but also protect against wear and tear.
There are also some great options for cleaning your dog or wrapping them up in a dog drying towel before they get in the car. These might limit the amount of mud in your car but you may still have to deal with that lovely “wet dog” smell!

Of course, there will be times when these preventive measures just aren’t enough! So, how to wash your car after a muddy dog walk? Well, first it’s best to let any mud completely dry out. If you try to clean it off while it’s still wet you more likely to push it deeper into the carpet fibres or upholstery.
Once the mud is dry, start by brushing as much out as you can. Then get the vacuum in there and clear out all the broken up mud and dust.
If you have some particularly stubborn patches you may need to use carpet and upholstery cleaner to get rid of them.
