Lockdown 3.0 is happening to us all right now as we try to protect ourselves and our loved ones from COVID-19. Chances are you have not been leaving your house very often, and what goes hand in hand with that is leaving your car to sit. How can we protect our cars and have them ready to take on regular life once again? In this blog, we will be sharing the tips for preparing your car for coming out of lockdown. Covering everything from the batteries to a car valeting service.
Car Batteries Are Key:
The first thing you should check on is your car’s battery. If it has been sat untouched for a long time it will probably need a boost.
Cold weather could also cause some issues – and right now it is getting cold!
Top tip: 30 minutes of driving is what we recommend when you need to charge your car battery – although this could be different depending on how old it is.
If your car isn’t starting you may just need a simple jump. If that doesn’t help it may be time to have a professional take a look and give you some advice on the next steps.
Make Sure You Are Topped Up:
All of your liquids play vital roles in keeping your car running to the best of its abilities. Oil is a key player of course. Give this a check before you hop in your car and go for a drive – it is a simple task that can make a huge difference.
Coolant is another important player – and its job is to keep your engine cool! You should be able to check the level simply by looking at its container. There should be some sort of symbol or line that you can see show you if there’s enough in there.
Test Your Lights:
Once you are ready to go on your next car ride, you’ll probably just want to hop inside and go (and we don’t blame you, lockdown 3.0 feels like the longest one yet!) but we do want you to do just one more thing before you head out.
Your lights can be lifesaving to you and others on the road. Especially pedestrians!
All you need to do is turn your lights on and get out and check them. You can also pull yourself up to a wall. When you practice your manoeuvres such as breaking – you should be able to see the reflection of the light on the wall. This will let you know that the lights are working correctly.
Give Your Car A Wash:
A good car wash or car detailing will have your car ready to hit the road again. Not only will a car wash help your car aesthetically, but it can also help protect it from any damage to the paint.

Just like all of us, your car will be happy to be back on the road. Cars run best with regular use and we are sure that it will enjoy its time with you.
